Field help: (2019) Should the survivor's allowance be transferred to the parents?

If you want to transfer the bereavement allowance to the parents, this allowance will be taken into account in the parents' tax return. In most cases, this is a more favourable solution than claiming this allowance in the child's tax return.

For parents who are divorced or permanently separated or for parents of illegitimate children, the bereavement allowance will be divided equally between the parents.

A transfer of the bereavement allowance is only possible if the child does not apply for the allowance in his/her tax return.
