Since 2017, the previous certification of capital-forming benefits in paper form (Form VL) will be replaced by an electronic capital formation statement (Vermögensbildungsbescheinigung) from the provider directly to the tax authorities. The tax authorities no longer create a sample for the Form VL, and providers no longer send out paper statements. You now apply for the employee savings bonus by entering a "1" in line 42 of the main tax form 2020.

In the main form for the tax return 2020, the following new query is inserted in line 42 of the application for the employee savings bonus: "For all electronic capital formation statements submitted by the provider, the employee savings bonus is applied for."
