Care allowance

You can apply for the care allowance if you care for a dependent relative or a close person without payment (§ 33b EStG).

Care and support expenses

Alternatively, expenses for care and support services can be claimed either as extraordinary expenses or as a tax reduction for household-related services.

Important: The tax reduction for household-related services is only recognised if you have received an invoice and paid it by bank transfer. Cash payments are not recognised by the tax office.
