Field help: (2024) Marital status

The marital status influences your tax assessment and therefore the tax calculation. This is based on either the basic rate or the splitting tariff.

Choose your marital status as of 31.12.2024 from the following options:

• Single
  Select this option if you were neither married, divorced nor widowed on 31.12.2024.
• Married
  Select this option if you were married on 31.12.2024 and not permanently separated from your spouse.
• Same-sex marriage/life partnership
  Select this option if you were living in a same-sex marriage or registered life partnership on 31.12.2024 and were not separated from your partner.
• Divorced
  Select this option if your marriage or registered civil partnership was legally dissolved before 01.01.2024.
• Permanently separated
  Select this option if you were already permanently separated from your spouse on 31.12.2024 but were still married.
• Widowed
  Select this option if you were widowed on 31.12.2024 and were not permanently separated before the death of your spouse.
• Widowed after separation
  Select this option if you were widowed on 31.12.2024 but were already permanently separated before the death of your spouse.
