Field help: (2021) Child (first name)

Enter the first name of the child who belongs to your household.

A child of full age does not necessarily have to live permanently in your household for him or her to be considered part of your household. It is crucial that there is a family home that is used by the child and that you are responsible for the child's well-being. There must also be a family bond between you and the child.

This means that a disabled child living in a home for the disabled is included in your household if you take him or her home from time to time. This also applies to children during their education (studies, vocational training, etc.) and children doing voluntary social service or military service, if they live abroad and regularly come back to the parental home. The child must stay in your home for at least six weeks a year.

You do not need to enter information on the children who are not entitled to child allowances (e.g. because of exceeding the age limit).

Tip: If you are not entitled to child benefits or tax allowances for a child, you can claim your maintenance payments as exceptional costs for the months concerned (2018: up to 750 Euro per month).
